Commercial Energy Performance Certificates
Most non-residential buildings when built, leased or sold require an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) before marketing or letting can commence to meet the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive which must be produced by an accredited Energy Assessor.
The certificate shows the energy rating of a building. It indicates the energy efficiency of the building fabrics and the heating, ventilation, cooling and lighting systems.
The Recommendation Report list recommendations selected by the energy assessor for the improvement of the energy performance of the building. The recommendations are listed four headings: short payback, medium payback, long payback, and other measures. Save Energy - Save Money!
Domestic Energy Performance Certificates
Any Domestic property leased, rented or sold now require an EPC before marketing or letting can commence which can only be completed by an accredited Energy Assessor.
The home’s performance is rated in terms of the energy use per square metre of floor area, energy efficiency based on fuel costs and environmental impact based on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Accredited energy assessors produce EPCs alongside an associated report which suggests improvements to make a building more energy efficient. Save Energy - Save Money!
Display Energy Certificates
Show the actual energy use of a building, the Operational Rating, and help the public see the energy efficiency of a building. A DEC is always accompanied by an Advisory Report that lists cost effective measures to improve the energy rating of the building.
Although they are only mandatory required for buildings with a total floor area over 1,000m2 that are occupied by a public authority and institution providing a public service to a large number of persons and therefore visited by those persons. They are valid for one year. The accompanying Advisory Report is valid for seven years.
Many private sector organisations such as retail units, offices, etc are having Display Energy Certificates produced in order to improve the energy efficiency of running their buildings in order to Save Energy - Save Money! It also helps to demonstrate corporate responsibility on green issues.
